Spanish-American War - 21 Apr 1898 to 13 Aug 1898 -, designed and fitted out the ambulance ship, SOLACE [Built 1896/97. Acq. 7 Apr and Commissioned as Hospital Ship14 Apr 1898], the first ever used in naval warfare; retired on own application, after forty years’ service, with the rank of sr. rear-admiral, 1902.[5]

1876 - Married Nellie Wells.[5]

1865, 1869 to 1870, etc.- Naval hospital, Chelsea, Mass.[5]

1863 to 1864 - on St. Lawrence E. Gulf Blockading Squadron.[5]

1862 - Served at Naval Hospital, New York.[5]
