1988 - Ernst “Jacke” Jacobson (Seal’s DEA handler), testifying in 1988, told a House Judiciary Committee that Seal had flown to an airstrip in Nicaragua in an airplane that had cameras installed by the Central Intelligence Agency. Seal took pictures during the Nicaragua sting operation that showed Pablo Escobar, Jorge Luis Ochoa Vásquez, and other members of the Medellín Cartel loading kilos of cocaine onto a C-123 transport plane. Federico Vaughan, the Sandinista Minister of the Interior, who Seal claimed was a top aide of Tomas Borge’s, was also photographed with Sandinista soldiers helping load the plane.

1985, Barry Seal allegedly caught on videotape Governor and Presidential contender George W. Bush (S&B 1968) and his borther, Florida’s Governor picking up kilos of cocaine at a Florida airport in a DEA sting setup by a vengeful Barry Seal. Seal was said to have been angry over what he considered Vice President George (S&B 1948) treatment of him. In the deal the two had cut, Seal felt, Bush was to take care of his (Seal’s) legal difficulties; in exchane, Seal had gone to work for Bush and North at Mena, Arkansas. Now he felt double-crossed by Bush (S&B 1948), so the story; goes his reaction had been to use his DEA cover to set a sting that ended up netting two very red-faced Bush boys. Seal then stepped in and ‘took care’ of things. The Bushies wree now supposedly in his debt. plus he hung on to the videotape shotof the sting for insurance.[2,p161]
1972 - arrested for conspiracy to smuggle plastic explosives to Mexico in DC-4. Case dismissed in 1974 for prosecutorial misconduct, however TWA had fired him.
1964 - Joined TWA as a flight Engineer. Promoted to first officer of Boeing 707.
