Edwin Lyon Dale Jr. (S&B 1945)

20 Jan 1981 to 20 Jan 1989 - Assistant Director Public Affairs, Office Management and Budget for President Ronald Reagan (Bohemian. Hon. Freemason). VP George H. W. Bush (S&B 1948)(DC).[2] Mr. Volcker said that when Mr. Dale became the spokesman for David A. Stockman [2007 indicted for fraud / 2009 no prosecution & Blackstone S&B Group] , director of the Office of Management and Budget under President Ronald Reagan, “I thought that was a waste of a good journalist, going to the budget bureau.”[4]

In 1968 Mr. Dale assisted on an important scoop on the escalation of the war in Vietnam …[4]

Stanley Karnow (Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris. CFR. American Society of Historians), in his 1983 book Vietnam: A History, wrote that Representative William Moorhead [S&B 1906] of Pennsylvania held a party at his home in Washington that was attended by Mr. Dale [S&B 1945] and Townsend Hoopes [S&B 1944], the Under Secretary of the Air Force. Mr. Hoopes [S&B 1944], Mr. Karnow said, had turned against the war and “hinted to Dale that a faction of the Pentagon was forming to resist a troop buildup in Vietnam.” …[4]

… Acting on Mr. Dale’s hint [S&B 1945], The Times was able to report on March 10 that President Lyndon B. Johnson was considering a Pentagon request to call up 206,000 more men at a time when the Administration was proclaiming that Communist forces had been crippled by losses suffered in their recent Tet offensive.[4]
