J. Clifford Baxter

Enron Vice Chairman J. Clifford Baxter was found in his car, apparently dead from a a gunshot wound to his head, with the pistol and a suicide note beside him.

An Enron Whistleblower had claimed that Baxter had engaged in a feud with then-Chief Enron Executive Jeffrey Skilling about the off-balance sheet deals that the company was using to hide billions in debt and that would eventually bring them down.

Baxter was scheduled to testify in congressional hearings in Washington the following week and was a defendant in many lawsuits.

1980 to 1985 - United States Air Force

Died 25 Jan 2002, from “Suicide” by gunshot to the head. Age 43.

Note: He left a wife, son and daughter. Suciide note was hand printed, but not signed.
