Stephen Vanderburgh Harkness
American Businessman.
He served as director of Standard Oil until his death.
1867 - Stephen V. Harkness invested heavily with his younger stepbrother Henry Flagler and John D. Rockefeller in Rockefeller, Andrews & Flagler, the corporate forerunner to Standard Oil.
1954 - Married Anna M. Harkness (Born 25 Oct 1837. 16 years old. SVH was 19 years old)
1842 - Married Laura Osborne (. SVH 23 years old. Died in 1852. 2 children. Losing first)
Died 6 Mar 1888, from Not Known. Age 69.
Note: Born to David M. Harkness and Martha Cook. Martha died when Stephen was two. David moved to Western Reserve region of Northwast Ohio, remarried to Elizabeth Ann Caldwell Morrison and had a son Daniel M. Harkess who
Harkness’ sons Charles and Edward, along with their cousin William L. Harkness, also found and sustain The Third Society in 1883 at Yale. This was later known as Wolf’s Head Society.[1.9]
