1906 - Went to Germany and was foreign correspondent for the Courant at Leipsic from 1909 to 1911.[4]
Upon his return to the United States sold his Wilmington paper and becamean editorial writer for the Hartford Courant.[4]
Remained abroad during the next 5 years.[4]

18 Jun 1874 - Married (1) in New York City, Julia, daugh-ter of Isaac Henderson. One daughter, Eliza Crawford (Mrs.Ritter vonBorosim). Mr. and Mrs. Sperry were divorced January 31,1913.
