Thomas Cleveland Patterson (S&B 1927)

Writer and poet. Yale University. Skull and Bones. Yale Record. Yale Literary Magazine. Editor of Linonia; associate editor of Banner and Pot Pourri. Member Interfraternity Counci. Senior Class Book Committee. Alpha Chi Rho. Chi Delta theta. Elizabethan Club (a governor Senior Year).[5]

On the night of Oct. 23rd, 1932 he snapped and murdered his parents at their palatial home on Staunton Road in Huntington. Thomas shot his mother twice in the head as she was listening to a radio show in the living room. He then shot his father once in the head as he was reading a magazine in his study. A gash cut was on the father’s forehead presumably from a hatchet found in his son’s room.[4]

Thomas then locked himself in his bedroom where he slashed his wrists with a butcher knife and bled to death. A note found in his bathroon read ” I have been murdered by a Ghost-A Devil. I wish to be cremated. Homicidal Maniac. I’m sorry.”[4]

Thomas had suffered from a mental condition for several years. His parents sought the advice of a Baltimore psychiatrist who had recommened that he be institutionalized for treatment.[4]

After graduating, he returned home to pursue his literary career.[4]

Since been engaged in literary work as a free-lance writer; affiilitated with the Second Presbyterian Church Huntingdon.[5]

1928 - Travelled in Central America and Mexico.[5]

1927 to 1928 - English Literature, Berkeley, California..[5]

1927 - Graduated Yale, Skull and Bones Patriarch.[1]

Died 23 Oct 1932, from See above[4] Suddenly. Age 28. Unmarried. Survived by three uncles and an aunt.[5]
