1923, with his sister, Miss Laura C. Barnum, gave to Yale the Barnum homestead at Lime Rock, to be known as the Charlotte Burrall Barnum House; member American Historical Society and St Thomas* Episcopal Church, New York City.[4]

Since 1913, President Pacific Coast Company, a holding company controlling mines, railroads, and other properties on the Pacific Coast, and chairman of board at time of death.[4]

1897 to 1900, Chairman, 1898 to 1914, Director - Yale Alumni University Fund Association.[4]

1893 until his Death - Alumni Fund Agent for Class of 1877.[4]

Father, William Henry Barnum (Freemason), member of the Congress from 1867 to 1879; chairman of Democratic National Executive Committee in campaigns of 1880 to 1884. Descendents of Thomas Barnum.
